The AFSCME Education and Leadership Training Department is launching two new Online Leadership Academy courses for local leaders in a series called “Local Leadership Essentials." The Online Leadership Academy provides high-quality training and leadership development for AFSCME leaders, stewards and staff, allowing them to enhance their union activism anywhere, at any time.

These two new courses are tailored to equip, empower, and inspire leaders at the local level to drive positive change, promote member engagement, and build stronger, more effective local unions. See below for brief course descriptions:

  1. Officer's Roles and Responsibilities: Gain a deeper understanding of the administrative and leadership roles outlined in the international Constitution. Learn how to contribute to the effective functioning of local executive committees and membership.

  2. How to Run Local Union Meetings: Acquire the skills and tools necessary to conduct local union meetings effectively. Explore topics like making a motion, chairing

meetings, and implementing best practices before, during, and after meetings.

To access the courses, leaders and stewards must go to education.afscme.org and create a new user account. We welcome you to register and experience it as well.
